I have recently returned from St.Georges Hospital Tooting London after a weeks stay for a Diagnostic Angiogram which proved to be positive  and have to return on the 3rd July for more cardiac surgery.

I have another Aortic Aneurysm which is urgent according to Professor Holt the Lead Clinician there.

I have been to St.Georges five times in the past three months.

Still, it is necessary as I only have 10% of my own Vascular system left the rest is Stents, Dacron Grafts etc.

Blimey Geoff you are very nearly bionic!

Seriously though, sorry you have more problems but your Doctors do seem to be very on the ball and giving you top notch care, good luck with the surgery and please do pop in to let us know it went well when you are recovered.

Best wishes, Sam x

 Very true CT, almost bionic,

Importantly I am still alive, due to the professionalism of the team at St Georges and my dogged determination.

Will keep you all updated.

Geoff I have just come on to see that something big is happening with Aimoo, I do not know if our group will move as it appears one of the admins have to request it and frankly I am unsure it is worthwhile as there seem to be the 4 of us just barely hanging on by the skin of our teeth.

As you do not use Facebook I hope you won't mind me giving you my email address as I would like to know how you are , it is  cristaltipps@hotmail.com  please do drop me a line as I still recall fondly your great kindness with your plants at our very first VG meet up all those years ago 16 to be precise, and although my little patch of greenery is nothing to shout about I do recall my like minded friends whenever I am out there :)

Best wishes, Sam x

My word you have really gone to town on your heart system haven't you Geoff - how on earth do you manage to do any gardening.
I am another person who doesn't like Facebook, although I am on it all I use it for is keeping to with the grandkids because I seldom see them.
I hope you feel better soon and full of energy and pep!!!   Thinking of you!

 Thanks BB.

I cope with my condition because I embrace it, and talk to the consultants in their own language.

Often fellow patients ask  if I am medically qualified or am a doctor.

I must say I am very confident entrusting my medical care with St Georges, even my Angiogram was conducted by Consultant Robert Morgan who is President of the Radiographers Society.

 Well Folks

I was successfully operated on 4th July and am at home recuperating.

The op itself only took 40 minutes overall 90 minutes.

Dacron man lives to fight another day.

Good to have you back Geoff and fighting fit again. Been meaning to ask if you still have banana trees. Got no chance of growing here in Wales.

 Thanks Blues.

Yes I still have Banana's growing in the front garden, Musa basjoo and a species from Tibet, so it should be hardy.

I also have the 'red banana' Ensete ventricosum variety 'maurelii' but in pots only as it is risky in the ground.

I used to wrap those in the ground so now they get nipped by the frost but soon emerge in the spring.

I also grow Musella lasiocarpa but although it looks like a banana it is in another family and I have yet to flower it (yellow).

About the hardest plant I can grow is Cordyline but even that has to be protected in Winter. I do have a couple of Cordyline Australis. The problem with those is that if they flower then the flowering stem dies and I have to cut them back. Have to takr a photo to shpw you what I mean

I attended St.Georges hospital, Tooting today.

All concerned are exceptionally happy and want to see me in a years time, which is good to know.

They are watching the remaining 5percent of my own Aorta which will need attention but some years away, I hope lol.
